Mourning the loss of Milton Corn, MD, Deputy Director for Research and Education, NLM

It is with good sadness that we share the news of the passing of Milton Corn, M.D., FACP, FACMI, Deputy Director for Investigate and Instruction. Dr. Corn worked at NLM for much more than thirty many years. He died on Sunday, February 7, 2021.

Dr. Corn joined NLM in 1990 as Director of the Extramural Systems Division, with obligation for all elements of NLM’s grant systems and remained in that function till 2009 when he assumed the posture of Deputy Director for Investigate and Instruction. 

As the Deputy Director for Investigate and Instruction, Dr. Corn was the principal health care advisor on study and growth and health care schooling priorities for NLM, exactly where he offered course and suggestions on the full selection of NLM’s intramural and extramural study portfolio. He creatively modified NLM’s Education Application in Biomedical Informatics to maintain pace with developments in biomedical computing.

“Dr. Corn remaining an indelible mark at NLM — from his substantial contributions to our study and grants systems to his excellent management and great perception of humor,” claimed NLM Director, Patricia Flatley Brennan, RN, PhD. “He touched a lot of life and will be drastically skipped.”

Prior to his assistance at NLM, Dr. Corn served as Professor of Drugs at Georgetown College School of Drugs, exactly where he held a quantity of management positions, which includes Healthcare Director of Georgetown College Medical center and Dean of the School of Drugs. Dr. Corn was a graduate of Yale University and Yale Healthcare School. He completed his residency in interior drugs at Harvard University’s Peter Bent Brigham Medical center, and a fellowship in hematology at Johns Hopkins College.

Dr. Corn will be remembered for his lifelong motivation to schooling and study and his a lot of contributions to the National Library of Drugs and the broader biomedical informatics neighborhood.
